After our first x-country ski adventure, Sarah halts us in the driveway to introduce us to Max (exclaiming that "Kenzie is a great fisher!" Later, over cards, Sarah will comment "Kenzie is
so thoughtful." (I agree). She also told us that what we've done with the apartment is "beyond my wildest dreams." I think she likes us (definitely Kenzie)) and point out all the other people we could see from the driveway and explain their relationships: the neighbor whose grandmother had just passed away 6 months ago, the ex-husband of the neighbor, a friend of the boyfriend of the neighbor, and Ed. Skis and poles in hand, we proceed to have a long conversation about breeding and the various options for the kids. Sarah concludes by saying "Well, we'll have a longer conversation about this soon, around a table to decide what to do." The sun is warm and we are calm, quiet ears for the new kids and our responsibility in this new future.
