Training Manual

Goats today. Finally. 1 degree outside. "It was like death," Kenzie whispers in my ear. Mid-day, I had to drive back to the barn to smash the goat's frozen water buckets, and re-fill them. In this weather, the water buckets last about an hour or two before they are frozen over. Tomorrow we will try out our toe warmers and 2 pairs of wool socks. Despite the cold, we love the goats (especially the same black doeling) and we are ready to stop making our own training manual (Kenzie will poke me when Sarah says or does something important that I'm supposed to write down. Meanwhile, Kenzie is snapping pictures of the sanitizer and the grain scoop and the milk tubes. We're alternating being the note-taker but I have a feeling one of us is better at it than the other.) and ready to get to work.

Doelings

Hand milking a few squirts to get rid of any bacteria
Now we can drink raw goats' milk whenever we want! I've already made goat yogurt and goat frozen yogurt and have been eating the aged goat cheeses that Sarah was going to throw away due to the ash. Brace would say that they taste like barn. Kenzie sticks to the fresh chevre.

  1. Haha yes I'll bet it does taste like barn. I could get used to it. I hope the skis are working out for you.
